August Evening Art

Saturday evening, I ventured out to investigate the music on offer at the Mendonesia Cafe, and my trek took me right past the Willits Center for the Arts. Music was playing, people were gathering, and the place just glowed with a reception for a new show by three artists, "I Dreamed I Was Not Alone". Sheri Howe, Jim Shorba, and Cynda Valle are all local, and very interesting. I've got an Animoto of more pictures, or you can view full sized images on my Overflow.

une belle lumière sortant de cette fenêtre, une invitation a venir voir l'exposition.

a beautiful light coming out of this window, an invitation to come see the exhibit.

You peeping tom! Or jane, rather. ;D

Off to the overflow… I love exhibits!

I like your window shots. And it looks like the artists' dream has come true, judging by all the people in the shot!

Ah... and one of the windows is half open. This is such an inviting scene and your shot captured it beautifully. Hey, and it's a nice sibling to Steve's image today at New Orleans Daily Photo.

I love that painting on the left of the flying woman, don't you?

I love the peeping tom aspect too and I love a good art show. So I take it you got invited inside. I can't wait to see your Animoto. I tried it and it's FUN!
PS My granddaughter and grandson say thanks for turning Mumsie onto Jackson Pollock.org. They "drew" for hours yesterday!

I love the "outside looking in" quality too! Hmmm, why is this resonating with me...

Seriously, nice job! Off to see the overflow now!

Sounded like you had a wonderful evening then.

BTW, I agree with you on the similarity between Turkish and Greek food. But that's because I am neither Greek or Turkish so I'm missing the subtle nuances in their cuisines.

Reed, Marie Reed - I mustered all the stealth I could, standing on the front lawn in clear view!

Abraham - Thanks for taking a look at the additional pictures. There was a lot to see.

Olivier - Thank you. I felt it was an invitation as well.

Hilda - I've fallen from international jet-set spy to humble peeping jane! Honest, they wanted me to look!

KG - They definitely were not alone that night. It was a good turnout, but not uncomfortably crowded. Just right.

Laurie - I liked the flying woman, as well as the two smaller paintings in this shot - goldfish swimming around two Willits landmarks; the Noyo theater, and the Willits Arch (both have been on this blog). I liked the painting of the door upstairs too. There was a lot to like.

Louis - Your Packard obsession is commendable for its constancy. ;^)

Benjamin - Thank you!

Virginia - Honest, it was all above board, and they even let me in (to the free public event)! I picked up the Animoto idea from Eric Tenin's use of it a few times. I decided I like to do it combination with regular Overflow pictures, so people can look more closely if they want. I like the Pollock site myself, as a replacement for Hearts or Freecell.

Kelly - You mean you feel that way too? I thought is was just me. I guess we are all simultaneously in and out. Time for some Zen meditation I think.

Ming - It was fun. (After my comments on your blog, and yours here, we are both in a heap of trouble!)

What a nice 'surprise' to see on your way to somewhere else. Very nice lighting came through in your photos. It must have been an interesting event, made more so by a dulcimer. I see someone even brought their dog!

I absolutely love this--the colors, warm inside, cool outside. the people the tree contributing to the painting inside. Reminds me of how the el trains in Bklyn pass apt windows and you can look inside.

My kind of place, my kind of evening. Loved the overflow shots too. Great shot. Reminded me of Rear Window.
