Do Poppies Dream of Blue Skies?
The state flower of California finds a foothold in the crevice between the Willits Rexall Drugstore back wall and the alley pavement. BackAlleyPoppies Jigsaw Puzzle
One of my favourite wild flowers and a great photo of them growing in a typically difficult environment. We have lots of them here too although I don't know if they are indigenous or introduced from further south. They have certainly made themselves at home though. We call them "California Poppies"
dina - they might do well in Israel, with a wet/dry climate.
benjamin - they are one of my favorites too, and properly speaking, we call them California Poppies too.
knoxville girl - they do crave sunlight, and fold up their petals at night or even on overcast days. The leaning effect is enhanced by their shadows here.
ming - thank you. Your own photography is always impressive.
kym - you get the literary prize! I thought I might be stretching it a bit, but you came through.

Since its the state flower, can you pull them up?
Gorgeous! I miss California poppies and blue skies. I never should have left.
That's a good question. Tough to be a city flower.

They look like they are leaning so hard to find that sky! Lovely!
Oh, what a simple and beautiful photo. The soft blue wall really make the yellow color flowers pop.
I love the color and I'm sure poppies dream of blue skies and androids dream of electric sheep.
jim - you could, but I wouldn't dream of it.
d.c. - you are welcome home any time.

What a great photo and good idea to make it a puzzle. I just emailed it to my Mom because she loves beauty & puzzles. Thanks!
