June Theme Day: The Corner/Local Shop
Mariposa Market is the best place in town to find organic groceries, nutrition supplements, grooming products, tea sets, and even organic cotton socks. On weekdays, it closes by the time I get home from work, but I do use it on some weekends to get bread and yogurt and dried seaweed. There's no way to miss the giant sunflower mural there on this curve of Main Street. Click here for additional pictures of this market in my Overflow blog.
This is a great day to explore the world as 174 City Daily Photo bloggers respond to the "Corner Shop" theme. Click here to view thumbnails for all of this month's participants. Have fun!

It looks like a cheerful place to shop. I haven't gotten on the organic food train yet. I know it is healthier but it is so much more expensive than regular food items.
Happy Theme Day.
The shop has a friendly facade, with all those colorful paint, it is inviting!
(Seaweeds! yum!) HAppy theme day!
Organic is best!
The facade is very welcoming! Mariposa in our language is a large Butterfly! A Butterfly as beautiful as your shot!

hat's a eautiful welcoming facade. No wonder you want to dhop there.
I love the idea of "honey in bulk".
Thanks for the shots on "overflow"
That's a great frontage - and so much in keeping with the organic way of doing things.... and thanks for stopping by!
Very welcoming design, cobine that with good food and they should be onto a winning formula
NICE photograph. I like the idea of a market because that often implies organic foods but not always.
Neat photo.
I really love stores like that! That's why I have too many tea sets. They have the best stuff.

Love that painted sunflower and the real flowers as well. Looks very welcoming!
What a pretty little market. I love the sunflower painted on the front!
Sunflowers and butterflies are an attracted sight for this front store and it looks like the food they sell is very attractive too!!
Alot of bees and honey in your neck of the woods!!!
Wow they seem to sell everything!
Nice choice for today's theme. Given your explanation, I appreciated the closed sign in the window.
I like places like this. I'm starting to buy some organic stuff. The place does look very inviting.
Thanks for your comment on my store. It was very hard to close, but it was for the best.
Where is Willits in relation to LA? Sorry to ask a stupid question.
Nice to be able to have a store close by for organic foods. You guys really know how to do things right.
Looks like a great shop.
Now this is MY kind of market---charming to look upon plus with great organic goodies of all kinds inside.
That sunflower just says "California" to me. One of our "organic" stores (who shall remain nameless) built over a wetlands, so I will not darken its doorstep. I get organic meat, fruit & veg from our local farmers markets.
Ho, I do like this one! I wish you a nice Sunday.
You have a very pretty shop in town and it sounds like a place where I would shop. Our village shop is rather unphotogenic, but the surroundings are pretty so I focused on that instead! :-)
It looks so inviting! Love the painting on the front!
apart from the closed sign it looks lovely
Hi! Thank you for dropping by my blog. I like this photo, and would love to shop there...honey, but no seaweed for me, though I know it would be good for me.
Good choice, Elaine. Looks like a good store. Your overflow site is a good idea.....I need to do that too. I'll take both the honey and the seaweed, please.
What a lovely Market!
Used you pic and post in a piece in our blog, Natural~Specialty Foods Memo.

The post is at or near the top of the blog.
Keep up the great work!
Best Regards.
ooo, ooo, ooo, I've been IN there! How fun to see a place I've actually set foot in featured in your theme day post, Elaine. Of course, who could forget such a gorgeous facade. I'm feeling NorCal twinges right now. I used to get up there every February for YEARS and seeing this brings lots of pleasant feelings back.
Wonderful photo for theme day,

OOoh organic cotton socks - sound terrific. This looks like a lovely shop, I would love to poke around in there!
Who can resist a lovely local market? Very nice!
I love all the flowers decorating the outside and that huge sunflower is wonderful! It looks like a great place to shop!!
I'm comin' to visit.
Very colorful shop you got there in your city. Just too bad they closed by the time you need it in weekend. Interesting post.
such a pleasant place.
Excellent choice of corner shop!
I have started buyng organic this and organic that and my goodness, with some things you can really tell the difference, can't you?
It is common in your part of the world for honey to be sold in large amount? Here in the UK we have small jars.
It sure is a 'healthy' store!
Organic food in Singaproe is just too expensive. Also, most of them are flown in from far away, so they look a bit 'old'.
Happy Theme Day!
These flowers gives us desire for entering to buy
Definitely bright and cheerful. Great choice for the theme day :-)
