Farmers Market Band

I think our weekly farmers' market has only a month left to go this season, and with it will go the Farmers' Market Band. The personnel sometimes change a bit, but the music is always refreshing, with a touch of "world beat" in the mix. It makes a lovely background to the browsing of produce and handcrafts. The hat for collecting donations states the money will benefit music education for Willits High Schoolers. The apple must be for the teacher.

YOu really captured a vibe here. I can already tell I like these people. And don't you love the guy in the back who seems to be off in his own little world? The musicians are really grooving with each other -- and that guy looks a million miles away.

You caught a cool moment in this shot. I love it.

Nice way and nice reason to pass the hat.

That looks like so much fun! I love farmers' markets with all their fun and food.

How nice that the money goes to a good cause!

Maybe they are the teachers? :)

'World beat' — sounds just like my type of music!

How cool is that? Glad to see that the money is going to the school's music program.

Our outdoor farmer's market is open all year round except on snow days...or the day after the snow falls.

It looks like a wonderful place to be ... Would love to hear the pieces of music they play. Would it be possible for you to record it and post it as an MP3 file? I think it would make the atmosphere of the place and time more ... hmmm ... felt(?).

Laurie - Thank you. I had taken a number of photos of these folks, on different days, but I liked catching them with mouths open in song best of all.

Dina and Saretta - Yeah, I thought that was good of them to essentially volunteer for a good cause.

Bibi - Now, I can hardly imagine the market without music.

Hilda - That's a funny thought - they could just be giving themselves a raise! 6^)

Ming - That sounds like it would be freezing! Our town is so small that I think if the local produce were reduced to a few winter hardy things, not many people would participate. Maybe you have greenhouse grown produce in winter.

Eki A. - I'd like to get a good mobile digital recorder sometime soon. There's so much that can be done with sound files, and I've started to learn how to edit them. But I have just discovered the video possibilities of my little camera.

Thanks everyone!

one of the best parts of Farmer's market is the music! Up here we have different groups come in but I enjoy them all.
