More Comfort Food

After all the running around of Thanksgiving week, I needed to get some laundry done. Which put me in Evergreen Shopping Center, which put me just a wander away from the Super Taco restaurant while my clothes dried. After so much turkey and potatoes and gravy, it was nice to sit down to a pretty dish of another kind of comfort food: tamales.

There are lots of circles in this picture, but it is not yet theme day... just a hint to absent-minded City Daily Photo Bloggers to be ready to go tomorrow!

Yum! Those look good! And I'm normally not a fan of Mexican type foods. Just might make an exception. And thanks for the reminder ....... perhaps a nice doggy chasing it's tail?

Oh, slurp. I love all kinds of Mexican food and stock up on spices when I'm home. There's one "Mexican" restaurant here, but it is sooooooo bad. Nice, appetizing photo!

Eat the flesh is visible. Appetizing. Bon appetit.

I do miss the occasional foray into a Mexican (Tex-Mex?) restaurant since I moved to CH from the US. I have to make do with faux versions I create at home.

I haven't been able to stay on top of the theme days, so thanks for the heads up. I should have saved today's photo for tomorrow... so it goes.

I was praying it was big ole pieces of avacado when I saw it on the portal but it still looks yummy. May I have just a taste?

Our cats and a few homeless ones have enjoyed some turkey leftovers. My husband was looking for a burrito today.

Chuck - I don't like my sauces too hot, but otherwise Mexican food is one of my favorites.

Bibi - I went to a Mexican restaurant in Poland, but it didn't really impress me either. It wasn't terrible, just seemed more like it was overly adapted to eastern Europe.

AKH - Thanks! It was nicely arranged.

Z - This is more California-Mex, which is the only type I'm used to.

V - You can have all you like! 8^)

JM - You know what I'm talking about!

Jill - Sometimes you need a change after such a feast.

PK - Tamales are native to Mexico, and I've never tried to make them. The corn/maize dough has to be made just right, and I've heard the process is a bit labor-intensive, so most of us go to Mexican-owned restaurants to eat them. I found a description on Wikipedia:

You're making my water with this one. I grew up on the Mexican border and tamales are a very traditional winter holiday dish there. I really miss that! Thanks for the memories...

I absolutely love tamale. I live near a Colombian community and they have the best tamale ever.
