Railroad Avenue after Overnight Rain

Plum blossom petals ring the rain puddle. This street never drains properly, and has had big pothole problems. The city recently resurfaced most of it. This is looking north near Oak Avenue.

This is a very nice photo of "normal" - I am trying to get over my hangup with "beauty" as some special category one discovers in the midst of vast ugliness of reality. Photographs like this make us recognize the beauty where we don't normally see it.

Thanks so much for your comment Ben. I hope that in in year's time, I'll have a fair view of what this valley looks like - in all its variety.

I'm glad I backtracked through your blog; this picture was a nice end to the trip. Railroad Ave was my route to WHS for many years. I once saw a train hit a station wagon there.

Anyway, I was surprised that you don't have a picture of (or from) the W on Red Hill. There are two wireless Internet service providers in Willits: Instawave and Willits Online. Perhaps you could capture some of their equipment. At least one of them has equipment near the W.

TLO - There is one picture of Red Hill from the valley, with some houses in the foreground, but some might not be able to see it very well. I didn't think it was on public property, and if it is, I wouldn't know how to get up there.
