A View More True

The forecasters promised us snow on Sunday, but down in Little Lake Valley we only got drizzles of rain and plenty of gloom. This squirrel perched on the stub of a redwood branch, making chung-chung noises while sheltered by the evergreen canopy high overhead. The flock of birds beyond just waited and endured.

Ooh, we got almost a whole inch, then it melted. I haven't looked outside in a while, so may be in for a surprise.

Amazing shot of that squirrel.

Snow??what the....in California where you live??? Well blow me down. Here it's rainy and weird warm. My sweatshirt and scarf were a little too much at noon. I'm not complaining though. Read Wayne's blog. Whew!

Oh and I love the squirrel and birds all silhouetted against that gray sky. Nice One!

I LOVE the squirrel's silhouette against the gray sky. How brilliant! And the many birds in the trees are very visible too.

I was very frustrated that your link to fanny packs didn't appear to work :-(((

Snow here Elaine. I'll bet that squirrel is fluffing his tail to stay warm because he knows you're getting some, too;>

Your squirrel matches the bumps on the telephone poles. Or vice versa. Nice echo.

Halcyon, you made me laugh!

My word verification is "mouse." Stay warm, everyone.

Thank you all for the warm comfort. The snow finally came, and the squirrel disappeared. No golf for that one.

I'm bundled in wool and down even now, and should head off to bed. Thanks again!

That squirrel seems to have an extra fluffy tail.

Do squirrels make a lot of noise? Are they a nuisence? Do local cats and dogs kill them?

So many questions, so little time...

Kris - Not usually, but he was doing his throaty sound on this occasion. Sometimes squirrels will drum a hand on a flat surface like this stub, but he wasn't that worked up. Squirrels are too fast for most cats and dogs if they have access to trees. I think you need to take a gander at Wikipedia on this one...
