Well, there it is. It snowed Monday morning and I have the photo to prove it. This is a Buckeye, with all its leaves and nuts fallen for the season, bearing a light load of snow on all its branches and twigs in equal measure. In dormancy, the lovely, evenly spaced and curved network of branches is best displayed, showing the unmistakable form of this species.
The snow came off and on Monday, but did not accumulate much and melted away by afternoon. At one point, a particularly dark sky unleashed a downpour of small-grained hail. But tonight, the prediction is for very cold temperatures (22F) and possibly two inches of the white stuff. The morning will tell.

We're in the low 20's too. Not much fun when it's that cold (: More snow is predicted for tomorrow as well ... we'll see. Hope you're staying warm.

Nice shot. So Willits has also gotten this snow. Isn't interesting that the "snowy posts" have started first from Seattle Daily Photo (maybe Vancouver, BC or Alaska was the first. anyway), then it has continued to Portland DP and now in Willits DP and Santa Fe DP (in New Mexico!)? Is it going to continue to blogs from Mexico too? Let's see.

What a lovely explosion of branches and snow. We've had rain and thunderstorms in TN so far; no likey that, a tornado is often not far behind. But not this time.

I was sure I had responded to all your kind comments here, but it looks like I failed! Please be assured I read them all, and I thank you for your lovely words! We don't get snow down in the bottom of the valley every year, but it is still about 1300 ft above sea level, so there is always a chance. We are starting to "warm up" with snow levels rising back up to the mountains.
