Local Drugs
I finally realized why the local Rexall affiliated pharmacy doesn't light this neon sign, even in the early hour of darkness of winter: much of the tubing is missing!
Other local drugs, of the outdoor sort, have been harvested for the season. Thanks to my favorite Humboldt county blogsister, Redheaded Blackbelt, I'm now aware that there was something of a regional harvest festival, with awards for the best produce, right here in Mendocino county very recently. What a fascinating post from the link. So da chronic is out and doobies are back in. I wonder how can a medical marijuana contest/festival be held without everyone getting arrested? How does that work exactly?
I love the perspective of your rexall sign. Sad that it's lost some of its neon tubes.
I like the drugs changed to RUG!!!
That's fun.
I really enjoyed your post yesterday about Human rights and gay and lesbian rights. Good on you for posting on this very important topic.
The photo is wonderful too.
Nice shot Elaine.
Rexall as been around forever and they were very prominent during my younger years. I've noticed the brand suddenly making a reappearance just lately.
A Wonderful photography. You know To See. Greetings.
Is Your photo album is always the fine.
I really like this composition and the contrasting colours too.
The colors are pretty whether it lights up or not!
The marijuana festival is based on the legal (prop 215 in Calif. made medical use legal) medical crop so that is how they can hold the festival.
Thanks for the link, Elaine, and the explanation because I've wondered, too. (Just as a note the word verification was hypill--high pill seems a bit significant on the part of the system;>)
Laurie - As Kym explains, medical marijuana is legal in California, although I guess federal law doesn't recognize that. It's sort of a jurisdictional stand-off, and the Feds typically just go after the big industrial quantity grows. There are plenty of those around, so they stay busy with that. Keep an eye on Kym's blog, or scroll through her archives, for some great grow-issue reporting. As for the jargon, you're asking the wrong person!
Nathalie (twice) - Thanks! As for the human rights, I wonder what the laws are in France for gay marriage.
Wayne - These look like vintage signs to me, but they are in fairly good shape. I wish they would repair this one, considering the resurgence of neon art fashion.
AKH and IDP - Thank you for your kind comments!
JM and Halcyon - Thank you as well. The sky was working with me that day.
Kym - Thanks for the expanded information, and for creating such a worthwhile blog. (Those verification words have been getting more recognizable lately. Almost spooky!)
Miss H - Hey, thank you for going on and on! It's just like the prohibition of alcohol, and the issues of money, corruption, and injustice are all part of it. I'm not a recreational user, but I hope it's there for me if I ever need chemo.
Thanks everyone!
