The
Willits Charter School recently made news for being
awarded a bronze rating among schools across the nation by USNews and World Report. This lovely mosaic bench sits just outside the school entrance. I'm glad to have something bright to post on a very rainy day.

Very nice indeed. We all need a bit of sunshine, especially on your east-coast!!
After more than 7 days of rain we finally have sunshine.
Have a good weekend!
What a lovely bench to share with us! It reminds me a little of a mosaic bench at Lynn Street park overlooking Lake Union in Eastlake. I'm going to have to dig up a photo of it for you.
Congrats to the school for its achievement. That is quite an honor. Of course we know Willits residents are highly intelligent :-).

I've always wanted to do a mosaic of some sort. I really have to look into it, for I have an old wooden table whose top I'm itching to redo.
bright colors and a cozy curve, who could ask for more. sounds like quite a special school. still raining here, but I'm not complaining - it's better than ice and snow storms.
Beautiful.
Just FYI, local mosaicist Elizabeth Raybee recently received a GASP Award from the county to do a mosaic at Oak Manor School in Ukiah. In the spring, they will be busy on the project!
Highly unusual. Great bench.
That is a great bench. I wonder of the kids made it.
That's beautiful. I love that kind of mosaic. It looks so cold where you are.
Of course, I'm not familiar with U.S. school ratings, but I'm sure that a bronze is a fantastic achievement. So congratulations to Willits Charter School!
And this is a wonderful, happy photo to accompany the announcement. Love the mosaic!
Blognote - The sun broke through today here as well, but rain is what we really need. Thanks!
Kim - Thank you! I have nothing to do with the charter school myself, but it was nice to hear that they are doing good work. It puts us on par with Seattlites, if you ask me. 6^)
Bibi - I always have too, but I think I've only ever done one of those kits for kids, back in the day.
KG - We were lucky this system wasn't too dry or too wet. Just colder than we are used to.
Amy - That sounds like fun! I imagine it will be harder to get such funding in the near future.
Dina - It brightens up an otherwise plain building. I'm glad they have it.
Jana - I don't know who made it actually, but it seems to be from the hand of one person.
Ann - I would love a little Australian vacation about now.
Hilda - I should note, the rating is done by a big news magazine publisher, not an official agency, but they are widely read and respected. I'm not sure I even understand their criteria, but making the list at all is a good thing, considering how many thousands of high schools there are in this country.
Thank you all for sharing in the congratulations! Now, on to some Christmas shopping...
Love the mosaic bench - it's so pretty!
