Frosted Rail
I amazed myself yesterday morning by actually leaving the house with time enough to stop for pictures on my way to work. This plant, snuggled up next to an NWP rail, clasped an autumn leaf through the night, and together they awoke covered in a mighty frost. If this is what autumn looks like, I wonder how our winter will be. Just four days until winter solstice.

Such pretty frost. I'm fighting an annoying cold and didn't feel get out. Made fudge instead.
I am getting cold just looking at that. I guess it's good preparation for my upcoming trip to Berlin.
Hi, Elaine. I am returning from Athens today. I managed to catch a major cold here, and the weather was warm! Back to colder Serbia. I have enjoyed your recent posts, especially the snow and squirrel ones.
The second photo is amazing! To me that's a unique view of a view I see every morning.
I took your link to Wikipedia and didn't see any reference to "Mighty Frost"! I think you have discovered a new category!!
We definitely have "Mighty Frost" here in Fort Bragg!!
Cool photos!
Elaine, I'd have guessed this was yours even if I didn't know who the photographer was. It's that magic ability you have to make ordinary objects look like works hanging on the walls at MOCA. Beautiful and wistful and wintery. Love it.
Any special plans for the solstice?
Ouch - poor wee plant I think it needs a nice warm window sill!!!
Jill - Fudge sounds like a much better idea. I hope you feel better soon.
Halcyon - I get the feeling you've been through it before, golf and squirrels notwithstanding. Safe travels.
Bibi - Another traveler! Plus, you have a cold! Jill suggests making fudge. It's awful to have to travel while sick. I hope you feel better soon too.
Eric - Thank you. The glancing light compelled me to stop for it. Your new blog looks great, and I've added it to my sidebar.
Ron - It's mighty mighty, and letting it all hang out! I loved the frost patterns you captured over there in Ft Bragg, and I encourage everyone to take a look at your blog as well.
Joe - Thank you! I wonder how the south peninsula is doing in all this.
Laurie - Thank you so much! I have no plans for the day other than my own awareness. I hope it will be good for photos.
Jules - It has that railroad tie to tuck its toes under, so I think it will be okay.
Thank you all for your kind words. Stay well if you can, and have some nice hot tea.
I should not be writing about the cold in Bursa, it is definitely not this cold!
Both pictures are so beautiful!
Does the weather have an impact on the trains?
Bursa - I'm sure it must freeze sometimes, but I was there in summertime. You can always to up to Uludag!
Tash - Thank you!
Kris - Not this weather, but this track doesn't get much traffic anyway. That's a whole other story.
That is a great photo!!!!
This is beautiful. (and nice prose too!)
